The holiday season is fast approaching. And with every holiday season comes a lot of celebratory food and drinks! This year, we have some tips to help you have an eco-friendly Thanksgiving.

Eat Green

Let’s think about the food we’re eating! When you purchase locally grown food or organic food, you’re immediately helping the environment as you’re cutting down on carbon emissions. How? Rethink Your Turkey  

Remember – shop local and organic! Instead of buying the cheapest turkey to feed your family and friends, shop around choose an organic pasture-raised turkey that was sustainably and ethically bred. And don’t forget, by supporting local, you are also helping create more jobs and grow local economies. 

Compost Those Food Scraps 

Any food scraps (e.g. the ends of fruit and vegetables that get chopped off and don’t make it into your salad or turkey stuffing) along with eggshells and coffee grounds are perfect to pop into your compost bin! Why compost? Because it’s hugely beneficial to the environment and it reduces the amount of food waste thrown away into landfill. 

Store Leftover Foods Without Plastic
