With the New Year creeping towards us, many of us tend to create new resolutions, habits and traditions. But so often, we struggle to maintain these well-intentioned lifestyle changes! The greatest mistake is setting a goal that is too ambiguous which can set you up for failure. We recommended starting small and choosing habits that can be broken up into smaller goals.

Choose a realistic goal

  1. BYO Reusable Shopping and Produce Bags
Introduce the habit of bringing your own reusable shopping bags and produce bags! Whether you are grocery shopping, gift shopping or clothes shopping, having your own bags on hand will help reduce your plastic consumption significantly.

2. Switch to a Reusable Bottle or Coffee Cup
Make the investment into your own Reusable Bottle or Coffee Cup. Whether you drink coffee in the morning or throughout the day or if you’re always on-the-go, a Reusable Bottle/Coffee Cup will save you from creating unnecessary waste and is a great habit to incorporate into your daily routine!

3. Always carry a Reusable Straw and Reusable Cutlery Set
How often do you suddenly find yourself thirsty or hungry when you’re out and about? To help curb your plastic consumption, it helps to carry a Reusable Straw and Reusable Cutlery Set, so that when hunger/thirst strikes, you’ll always be prepared!

Make the switch to eco-friendly and sustainable products

Have you taken a step back and had a good look at the products you’re using in your bathroom, laundry or kitchen? We can assure you that there is a sustainable alternative to (almost) every plastic product! Start with a small section of your house (e.g. kitchen) and begin making the transition to eco-friendly products when plastic product begins to wear. You can also browse our website by category: On The Go, Bathroom, Kitchen and Laundry.

Avoid repeating past failures

Another strategy for sticking to new habits is to not make the same mistakes. Take some time and reflect on your past. What worked well? What didn’t? How will you achieve and stick to your new habits this time? By evaluating and reflecting, you will be more likely to see real results!

Remember that change is a process

Always remember that change is a process. You can’t expect new habits to stick in a matter of days, weeks, or months. So, try again, change your approach, evaluate and try again – we’re only human!
